Atividade antimicrobiana in vitro das frações apolares dos extratos de folhas de Alpinia zerumbet e A. purpurata

Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a atividade antimicrobiana in vitro das frações dos extratos brutos hidroalcoólicos de folhas: hexano, diclorometano, acetato de etila e butanólico de Alpinia zerumbet e A. purpurata pelo método de difusão em ágar gota a fim de triar os principais compostos envolvidos na atividade antimicrobiana. Folhas de plantas adultas de Alpinia zerumbet (Pers.) B.L. Burtt et R.M. Sm. e A. purpurata (Vieill) K. Schum foram coletadas secas e maceradas em etanol a 70%. Os extratos etanólicos foram particionados com solventes de polaridade crescente. As frações de diclorometano foram analisadas por cromatografia gasosa/espectrometria de massa (CG/ EM). A principal substância na fração diclorometânica de ambas as espécies foi o ácido hexadecanóico (ácido palmítico). A atividade antimicrobiana do extrato bruto, bem como das frações de hexano, diclorometano, acetato de etila e butanol foram avaliadas contra bactérias e fungos patogênicos utilizando o teste de difusão em agar. Não houve inibição das bactérias testadas. Entretanto, a fração diclorometânica apresentou atividade antifúngica promissora contra os seguintes fungos: Cryptococcus neoformans, Fonsecaea pedrosoi, Trichophytoon rubrum, Microsporium canis e M. gypseum.
